Andi Murray, MA
Practicum Student

My name is Andi and I am working on my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Mount Mercy University. I have lived my whole life here in Iowa, with most of it in the Iowa City/Coralville corridor. I graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Women’s Studies. I also hold my Master’s in Psychology from Walden University.

I have experience in a variety of settings working with children, families, and couples from a diversity of backgrounds. I am open to working with any individuals, families, or couples. I also love working with children and am working towards becoming a registered play therapist. As an inclusive gender and identity-affirming therapist, I provide inclusive and respectful care to all. I value and believe in the power of authenticity in the therapy room, from myself and others. I work collaboratively with a person-centered approach to therapy to help reach one’s treatment and therapy goals. I approach therapy using a systemic framework with an attachment lens and provide experiential therapies, such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

I believe that with the right support, change and healing is possible. I genuinely believe that we can heal through our relationships with others. I offer a warm, safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for anyone who is struggling and needing help in their lives, whether it is working through past trauma, relationship/family concerns, identity, or another concern in their lives. Everyone deserves to have their stories listened to by someone with a kind, compassionate and empathetic ear. It is these deep connections that can lead to a journey towards change, growth, and healing. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, spending time with my children, family, and friends. I also love to travel, go to concerts, and explore all that life has to offer.
